Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel on Thursday talked with Ukrainian Ambassador here Olesya Ilaschuk by phone about the Myrotvorets website and related media reports, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry says that reports about the inclusion of Bulgarians in a list of enemies of Ukraine’s are confusing and concerning.
Ambassador Ilaschuk assured Minister Gabriel that she is aware of the significance of the matter and said that “the activity of the public organization Myrotvorets is in no way related to the work of the state institutions of Ukraine and does not reflect the official policy of the Ukrainian state”. She said that Myrotvorets is a non-governmental organization and that its website is an information resource. During the talk the sides agreed that the case will be resolved by the competent authorities of the two countries, and Minister Gabriel and Ambassador Ilaschuk rallied around the need to implement close coordination.
The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry says that with the first reports about Myrotvorets this week, Foreign Minster Gabriel instructed the Bulgarian Embassy in Kyiv to collect information and report it promptly.
The information from the Embassy in Kyiv will be made available to the Bulgarian security and intelligence services as well as abroad.
