Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev opened the first of its kind wine festival “Discover it! Local Wine” in the village of Oreshak, near Troyan. Exhibitors from Bulgaria and Romania are presenting their products at 25 stands in the exhibition area of the National Exhibition of Artistic Arts and Crafts (NEAAC).
“I am glad to see what is on this meadow and I would like to wish all exhibitors high market success with high quality Bulgarian products. I hope the cooperation with our neighbouring Romania will deepen and lead us to high market successes together,” Minister Vatev said.
The forum will feature 15 of the best wineries from the two neighbouring countries, and visitors will also be able to taste local food, meat, cheese, baked products and sweets, project coordinator Filis Yuseinova told BTA.
The programme of the festival also includes craft workshops, thematic lectures and tastings led by experienced oenologists. A rich cultural and musical part is also planned.
The festival is organised within the framework of the cross-border project “Discover it! Local Wine”, which is implemented by the local initiative group Troyan, Apriltsi, Ugarchin.. Partners are also two other local initiative groups from Bulgaria and four from Romania.
The main objective of the project, which is two years long and is already coming to an end, is to present local wine production and wine culture in the territories of the partners to increase their recognition and attractiveness at national and international level, Yuseinova said.
