As railway tracks reached critical values in the temperature, reductions in the speed of the trains will be introduced every day for a certain period of time in some areas, said the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) to BTA on Monday.
There are no specifically designated areas, everything depends on the temperature, the company explained.
The temperatures are monitored by NRIC employees. Measurements are made every hour along the entire infrastructure, measuring the rail temperature at individual points over 40-50 kilometres. A peak time for high temperatures is between 11 am and 7 pm.
NRIC added that temperature related reductions in speed are necessary, as there are risks of loss of stability due to thermal elongation of the rails.
