The State Fund Agriculture has paid more than BGN 1.7 million to 11 beneficiaries under the 2014-2020 Maritime and Fisheries Programme.
A total of BGN 717,760 was paid to five beneficiaries implementing public municipal projects contracted under the programme. Funds were paid to the Shabla – Kavarna – Balchik Local Initiative Fishermen Group for a sports and recreation area and for the protection of cultural values and preservation of traditions in the Balchik fishing area, to the Medical University in Varna for increasing knowledge about marine environment, as well as for financing the running costs of two other Local Initiative Fishermen Groups.
The other five beneficiaries are private applicants under the programme who have negotiated grants from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund to make private investments. The financial support is granted for 6 new ponds for stocking rainbow trout, sturgeon, European catfish and carp.
