The 19th edition of the Autumn Salon of Arts in Plovdiv will offer dozens of events in September, among which festivals and individual shows dedicated to music, theatre, dance, literature, visual arts, exhibitions, art installations and more, Plovdiv Municipality said. As is tradition, the official unveiling will take place on September 1.
The Salon will begin with a free gala concert at the Roman theatre of Philippopolis featuring students and alumni of the Dobrin Petkov National School of Music and Dance. Pianist Emma Tahmizian and violinist Moni Simeonov will be soloists. The audience will hear pieces by Giuseppe Verdi, Pancho Vladigerov, Georges Bizet, Maurice Ravel and Ludwig van Beethoven under the batons of Nayden Todorov and Konstantin Dobroikov.
Some of the festivals included in the Salon are the 27th edition of the Stage at Crossroads International Theatre Festival, the puppet Three are Too Many, Two – Not Enough, Balabanov’s House Music Days Festival, Plovdiv Jazz Fest, Guitart Guitar Festival, Art. No Borders Festival, Thracian Mysteries Festival, European Music Festival 2023, Classic Open Air: Music of the Hills, Panorama of the comedies Curtain under the Stars, European Night of Literature 2023, Kapana Fest, the 9th edition of the International Book and Movie Festival CineLibri 2023, Facade Videofestival, as well as Old Town Festival 2023.
A few special exhibitions will be dedicated to painters’ anniversaries: Zlatyu Boyadzhiev’s 120th, Zdravko Yonchev’s 85th and Nikolay Nyagolov 60th.
The Autumn Salon of Arts is organized by Plovdiv Municipality in cooperation with cultural institutes. Many events are free admission.
