Latvian airline AS Air Baltic Corporation will operate direct flights from Sofia Airport to Riga in May 2024, operator SOF Connect said on Wednesday.
Flights to the Latvian capital will operate three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, between May 2 and October 26.
airBaltic is a hybrid company: it combines the best of traditional carriers and low-cost airlines. The carrier is 98% state-owned. The Latvian company offers competitively priced low-cost tickets in its network, as well as tickets for direct and transfer flights, the release said.
The company flies to more than 70 destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia and has Europe’s youngest fleet, which includes one of the world’s most environmentally friendly commercial aircraft, the Airbus A220-300.
“We welcome airBaltic’s decision to launch direct flights to Riga from Sofia Airport. Through these flights Bulgarians will be able to reach all Baltic and Scandinavian airports with just one connection. We are grateful for the airline’s trust and wish success to the new destination in our portfolio,” SOF Connect CEO Jesus Caballero was quoted as saying in the release.
