The government approved by a decree the plan-account for the costs of the preparation and production of the first and second rounds of elections for municipal councillors and mayors in 2023. The approved funds amounting to BGN 151.1 million will finance: the preparation and printing of the electoral lists, the purchase and production of the necessary election papers and materials, logistical support for the regional and municipal administrations and the administration of the Council of Ministers, remuneration of the members of the municipal and section election commissions, and the provision of security measures by the Ministry of the Interior to protect public order and security.
Upon the Central Election Commission entering into contracts for the logistics and technical support of specialised electronic voting machine devices as well as paper ballot voting, the Government is prepared to provide the necessary funds for this purpose in accordance with the Public Finance Act.
