Navigation in the Bulgarian section of the Danube is normal despite the low level, Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River in Ruse Director Iveline Zanev, told BTA Wednesday.
According to him, there are no critical sections on the fairway (shipping lane) that would hamper navigation.
Zanev explained that a temporary rise in the river level is expected next week due to rainfall in Western Europe. He recalled that during the summer months dredging works were also carried out to improve navigation near the islands of Batin, Belene and Vardim.
According to the Executive Agency, the level of the Danube at Ruse Wednesday is 123 cm above the provisional “zero”. The forecast for the next two days is for it to drop by another six centimetres.
