Bulgaria’s Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov Friday presented Elena Karakasheva as his new deputy to the prosecutors of Supreme Administrative Prosecution Office. Karakasheva took office on September 1, 2023, the prosecution service said on Friday.
She was appointed by the Prosecutors Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council as a deputy prosecutor general on July 26, 2023, on the nomination by Sarafov.
During her career in the judicial system, Karakasheva has worked at all levels of the judiciary, starting from junior judge at the Sofia District Court to President of the Slivnitsa Regional Court. From 2017 to 2020, she headed the Sofia Appellate Court. From 2020 until her appointment as deputy prosecutor general, Karakasheva was a judge at the Criminal College of the Supreme Court of Cassation.
