Bulgarian film Mother won the feature film award at the 17th edition of the Vukovar Film Festival in Croatia, the organisers announced Friday on the official Facebook page of the festival.
Mother is an award-winning production retelling the true story of Elena who, failing to get pregnant, goes to Kenya to adapt plays for orphans there.
The director is Zornitsa Sofia, starring Daria Simeonova, Leon Luchev and Daria Dimitrova.
The film is a co-production of Bulgaria, Germany and Croatia. It was the Bulgarian nomination for the Academy Award for International Film.
Mother completely redefines the meaning of that word, and given the emotion it carries, the award is no surprise, reads the announcement on the festival’s official page.
