EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, Virginius Sinkevicius, will pay a working visit to Bulgaria on Thursday, the European Commission’s office in Sofia said Wednesday.
During his visit to Sofia, Sinkeviciuswill meet with Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov, Environment and Water Minister Julian Popov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev, the Parliamentary Committees on the European Union, Schengen Area and the Eurozone, on Agriculture, Food and Forestry, and on Environment and Water, as well as with civil organisations working in the field of ecology.
The focus of the talks will be on nature conservation, air quality, waste management and waste water treatment, fisheries, as well as maritime security and the environmental consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The recent devastating floods in Bulgaria will also be discussed.
