Migration pressure has gone completely out of control, said the Mayor of the southeastern municipality of Bolyarovo, Hristo Hristov, at a news briefing here on Thursday. “The migrants passing daily have once again left numerous illegal rubbish dumps in the border area,” he said.
Hristov said that the dumps had previously emerged mostly around the villages in the immediate vicinity to the border but now the littering has spread all over the municipality. “The situation is unprecedented and poses a great risk because of the ongoing wildfire season,” he added. The Mayor stressed that measures need to be taken to stop or at least reduce the migrant pressure. The municipality’s leadership is expected to meet with the Elhovo Border Police Director in order to address the problem with the rubbish scattered across a large area.
