National Assembly Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov and the parliamentary delegation he leads visited the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Georgia, his press office said on Friday.
The Bulgarian delegation went to the Odzisi crossing point with South Ossetia to check how the EUMM in Georgia is progressing, to get acquainted with the security situation at the border and to meet with the Bulgarian representatives there.
Zhelyazkov underscored the important role and contribution of the EU civilian observer mission in promoting stability and security in Georgia and the wider region. He thanked the Bulgarian members of the mission for their dedicated and professional service facilitating dialogue and reducing tensions among the conflict-affected local populations on both sides of the border.
