Two men were arrested for growing over 250 hemp plants and keeping over 38 kilograms of marijuana in Zlatarishko, Veliko Tarnovo Regional Police Directorate head Senior Commissioner Dimitar Mashov said at a briefing on Saturday.
The men, aged 50 and 52, known to the police, were detained in the course of a specialized police operation to counter the distribution of narcotics on the evening of September 14 at a property in the Zlatarishko’s village of Rodina, while they were watering 256 plants of the hemp type, with a height of nearly three metres. During a subsequent search of premises located nearby, 5 sacks of dried leaf mass identified as marijuana, weighing approximately 38.5 kg, were found and confiscated. Pre-trial proceedings for cultivation and possession of narcotic substances have been initiated.
